Introducing Alternative
Real assets, split into shares, priced in ETH. Four to start.
Everything we hold, and what a share costs today.
How it works
A holding entity owns each asset. Shares in that entity are tokens on Robinhood Chain. You buy them in ETH.
Connect and choose
Any injected wallet, one click to Robinhood Chain. Pick an asset and a number of shares; the ETH total follows the live rate.
Buy in ETH
One transaction mints your shares to your wallet. The ETH goes to the holding entity's treasury against the asset's fixed dollar valuation.
Hold, vote, exit
Valuations are re-marked to market data monthly or quarterly. From year one, holders vote annually on a sale; proceeds are paid pro rata in ETH.
Why Alternative
Priced in ETH
Every figure on the site is in ETH first. The dollar valuation is the anchor; the ETH price is what you pay.
Custody you can read
Where the asset is, who insures it, and the last inspection report, on every listing.
Sources on the price
Each valuation links to the market data it came from. No appraiser's opinion without a link.
One class of share
No preferred, no carry. Sale proceeds are distributed pro rata to whoever holds shares on the record date.
Exit by vote
Holders decide when to sell. Alternative can propose; it cannot force.
Four assets, not forty
We list what we can hold, insure and inspect properly. The next asset is added when the last is fully subscribed.
$ALT
$ALT is not a share in any asset. It's for early access: holders see new listings 48 hours before they open and pay no platform fee on share purchases.
Questions
What am I actually buying?
ERC-20 tokens representing shares in a holding entity that owns one named asset. Each asset has its own entity and its own share class; there is no pooling across assets.
Why price in ETH if the valuation is in dollars?
The asset's value is set against dollar market data because that's how cars and watches trade. The share price in ETH is that value divided by shares, at the live ETH/USD rate, so it moves as ETH moves.
Can I sell my shares?
Shares are transferable tokens, so yes, on any Robinhood Chain venue that lists them. Alternative is building a bulletin board for holder-to-holder trades; until then, transfers are peer to peer.
Who holds the asset?
A single-purpose entity per asset, with the custody arrangement, insurer and storage location on the listing. Alternative operates the entities and publishes inspection reports.
What happens when it's sold?
Holders vote annually from the first anniversary. If a sale passes, the asset is sold at market, and the net proceeds are distributed in ETH pro rata to holders on the record date.
